Content Management - Keeping your site up-to-date

You have no doubt been told you need a Content Management System or have used one before. That means you know it's a great idea to be able to log in and change your site whenever you want. But did you know that's just the start of the story?

I set up every one of my sites to be as dynamic as possible. My excellent CMS software enables this. Text and pictures are changeable (as they should be), but I can also make it so that the banners on your site are automatically created as the page loads (see www.distinctivealbums.com for an example), the menus are always read from the database, fading or scrolling images are selected on the fly from a pool that you have loaded into the CMS (see www.jobodesign.com.au for an example), and many other tricks that save you from going back to a graphic designer (or me) to make changes. That saves you a lot of money.

The same CMS can do your bulk emails (see Bulk Email Campaigns for more), member database, on-line shop (see www.hallamhobbies.com.au or www.aeroplus.com.au), and even be extended to a custom web application with its own Facebook application and other social media extras (see www.footyrocks.net).

After all, the reason you have a CMS is to allow you to make your own changes so why be restricted to text and images. Years of experience means that I know a lot of other ways to apply the same thinking to parts of your site that you may never have considered.
